The Essential Experience

During the third week of the semester, we were given the prompt of an ‘Essential Experience’, in which the questions we were told to ask about our own games were:

•What experience do I want the player to have?

•What is essential to that experience?

•How can my game capture that essence?

An important quote that I had taken and embedded into my GDD was “The game shapes itself around the experience not the experience around the game”.

After attending this workshop, I had decided to answer these questions for myself; as seen on the Essential Experience page.

By getting into group calls and discussing further with my peers, we were able to figure out which ideas sounded best, as well as paths that I could take to further research and learn about my idea.
